YOUR BLOG PROFILE

What to include:

1.      Your age:   J’ai…………….ans

2.      Details about personal appearance such as - hair and eye colour, height, who you may resemble:  J’ai (for hair and eyes); Je suis (for height); Je ressemble à (for who you look like.)

3.      General personality characteristics:  Je suis (followed by adjectives.)

6.      What are your hobbies?  Je joue (au sport, de le/la – musical instrument)

7.      Where do you like to go for the holidays?  Pendant mes vacances je vais ……

8.      What things do you like ?  Could be food, films, games, whatever.  J’aime …

Use the following connecting phrases:

Il est vrai que – It’s true that…, En même temps – at the same time…, Franchement – frankly, honestly,  De nos jours – these days, En fait – in fact, Finalement – finally, Apparemment – apparently, Tout le monde – everyone, Normalement – normally, Autrefois – formerly, A vrai dire – to tell the truth, really.

POSITION OF ADJECTIVES

Adjectives AFTER the noun

In English we usually put most adjectives before the noun.  In French, however, most adjectives come after the noun, including:

1.      Adjectives indicating COLOUR or SHAPE

Une robe rouge  -  a red dress

2.      Adjectives of ORIGIN, RELIGION, PROFESSION, or those that refer to the arts

Une fille française  -  a French girl 

Adjectives BEFORE the noun

The following adjectives usually go before the noun. 

Autre (other)	Petit (small)
Jeune (young)	Vilain (ugly, naughty)
Même (same)	Bon (good)
Haut (high)	Grand (big, great)
Joli (pretty)	Gros (fat)
Mauvais (bad)	Long (long)
Méchant (bad, naughty)	Gentil (nice)
Meilleur (better, best)	Beau (handsome, beautiful)
Vieux (old)	Nouveau (new)
	Vrai (true)

When 2 adjectives have the same position they can be joined by the conjunction ‘et’

Une femme intéressante et intelligente            An interesting and intelligent woman

If an adjective is an integral part of the noun, another adjective can follow it without using ‘et’

Un petit jeune homme      A small young man

Create a cartoon about your holiday in Noumea. It should have at least 6 squares and include speech bubbles about what you have done. Perhaps there will be 2 characters, one of whom is asking about your holiday and you answering. Remember your speaking task - something along those lines.

TRIP TO NOUMEA

This term you are going to write 8 journal entries about your 8 day visit to Noumea.
At the beginning of each entry you will write the date.
Each entry will begin with a weather report of that day.
You will then write at least 5 sentences about your activities during the day.
You should use a variety of expressions such as après, puis, d'abord, plus tard, ce matin, enfin to begin your sentences.
You should also express your opinion about some activities and the day in general.  eg C'était amusant.  J'étais très fatigué.
